✮After you install Ubuntu-16.04 excute these commands via Putty (SSH):

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install software-properties-common
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ondrej/php
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install php7.0 php5.6 php5.6-mysql php-gettext php5.6-mbstring php-xdebug libapache2-mod-php5.6 libapache2-mod-php7.0
sudo service apache2 restart

✮What this can be used in? You can use it to install things like AMXBANS. Or run your website. Read more about PHP.

update command update the Packages List of VPS (aka add new or latest packages)
upgrade just upgrade the installed applications / packages (by using VPS packages list)
so you have to 1st update then upgrade
